When It’s Too Hot To Play Outside…

sts-097_kidstation_project2000_sun_shades…Bring the outside fun inside!!

Kids love playing outside, but sometimes the weather makes that really unpleasant, even if you have a quinny buzz (it’s a super-cool stroller by the way…who knew?  LOL).

Today Ava was begging to play outside with her sand toys, which she calls “dirt”.  I really, really didn’t want to go outside (don’t judge me people, you don’t know how hot it is here!), so I was racking my brain trying to think of an alternative.  Then I remembered that I had tons and tons of dried beans that I don’t anticipate using any time soon.

So I put two pounds of beans in a big mixing bowl and set her up at the dining room table with her sand toys.  She stayed busy for about an hour shoveling beans into different buckets and then pouring them back in the bowl.  Meanwhile, I was able to play with Kelvin on the floor next to her without having a heat stroke!

What tricks do you have up your sleeve for having fun inside when it’s too hot to play outside?  Tell me about it in a comment!
