I think this has to be the sweetest picture I’ve ever gotten of these two.  Even sweeter than the ones of Ava holding Kelvin when he was a newborn, since he’s almost as big as she is now (I fully expect him to pass her up soon….probably before he’s even old enough to start working out and taking post workout supplements !)

He had fallen asleep while I was holding him (he was getting over being sick) and I was about to lay him on the couch so I could make dinner, but Ava insisted on holding him.  She held him like that for quite awhile before she asked me to lay him on the couch.

I think I need to print this out and hang it on the refrigerator for those moments when they’re fighting like cats and dogs about anything and everything and I’m about to pull my hair out!

This year for Ava’s birthday party, she chose Tangled for the theme.  I had so much fun with it.  Since Tangled is so popular right now, there were tons of ideas on blogs and websites.  I ended up doing a lot more crafty things for this party than I normally do (hand-painting the sunshine banners, braiding an 18-foot braid out of yellow yarn, etc.) but it was fun and I love how it turned out.

There are tooooo many pictures to share here, but here’s the link to the album they’re in.  There are tons!

The only thing I wish could have been different is having Tangled playing in the background.  But since it isn’t out yet, that’s not really possible.  It just would have been nice to let people see for themselves how some of the details of the decorations related to the movie, rather than having to explain it.  I also wish I’d looked for a Tangled soundtrack so that I could have had that playing from wireless speakers around the house.  I didn’t think of that until it was too late though.

But…if those are the only things I was unhappy with, I’d say it was a huge success!  Ava absolutely loved it.  My grandma brought up a good point though….how would I ever top it?!

Over a month ago, I promised pictures of Ava’s first haircut….well, here they are finally!!  I wouldn’t be good in a career with best prices promotional apparel …it takes me forever to get stuff edited and posted!  LOL

Here are the before shots:

The during shots…

And the after shot…

There isn’t a huge different in length, but after four years there were a lot of split ends that needed to be cleaned up and it looks so much healthier now!  Maybe it will even grow a little faster now.  One can hope, right?

I’m not proud of my reaction to finding out that Ava was sick AGAIN.  {Seriously, what is it with this winter?!}  My exact words (to Chad, not to her) may have been, “Maybe God will be merciful and I’ll get run over by a truck this week.”  Not one of my finer moments.

But seriously, I’m so tired of the kids being sick.  It’s getting ridiculous.  We’re all going crazy with cabin fever (even whichever kid happens to be sick at the moment) and it’s killing us!  I’m just about ready to think about taking sales jobs just to get out of the house! Watch, next week during Spring break when we have nothing to do and nowhere to go, we’ll all be in perfect health.  Isn’t that the way it works?

We are just minutes away from beginning the weekend…time to break out the cheap don tomas cigars (if we smoked LOL)!  We have a busy weekend ahead of us!  We have church in the afternoon instead of the in the morning because we have a potluck and fun show afterwards!  I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else has prepared.  I considered doing something on my flute (if I can even still play it…it’s been years!) but with sick kids all week, I didn’t even have time to look for it.  So I’ll be watching, but Chad is going to be the emcee so that should be entertaining!

And now I’m off to finish dinner.  We’re having friends over and I’m making Stuffed Buffalo Chicken Breasts, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread and chocolate silk pie.  My mouth is watering already!

This week I discovered a new learning tool for Ava at Confessions of a Homeschooler (hands-down my favorite preschool blog!)…..clothespin number cards!

I love them!  Ava is still working on identifying number 13-20 so this was a perfect opportunity for her to practice that.  It took about 20 minutes for her to do all the cards but she enjoyed them a lot.  It wasn’t independent work by any means, since she still doesn’t recognize some of the numbers, but down the road she might be able to do them by herself.

Kelvin got in on the action too, but he just clipped about 15 clothespins to each card…by the time he was done I think each card weighed more than shoulder braces! I think he missed the point a little.  LOL
